Mother's Day (and lists)

It was a special day indeed. I got to make breakfast for my Beloved, his parents, and our four children. You would think that I would have been happier having someone serve me but, at this point in my life, I have learned that serving others has more value.

I enjoyed seeing my Mother-in-law listening to our oldest son talk about Star Wars characters, Wii games, and Legos. He is an expert in these areas.

Ben and Max loved making food faces on their plates.
I love seeing the creativity of our children.

Our Charlotte loves making lists. She takes after her Daddy in this area. She wanted Grandma Sonnie to make their list of things they would do together today.
I think my favorites are:
"Watch birds and cows" and
"Collect acorns and bugs".

My Day was sweet. I cared for our family like I do most every day. I cooked, cleared the table, did dishes, kissed hurts, gave hugs, made cookies, picked up things left on the floor, fed the dog and the cats, disciplined when necessary, felt overwhelmed at times, laughed, talked, listened,...
Our children brought me dandy lion flowers from our overgrown lawn.
They hugged me this morning and gave me their painted hand print cards (made at school).
Grant gave me a small river rock he had written his name on.
There was nothing extraordinary about my day.
Tomorrow will probably be a lot like today.
What is extraordinary is, I am a Mommy.
That is the gift.
For that, I am thankful.

  1. Great will be your reward in Heaven! What happened to the children clearing their own plates? The folks just got in the night before, I can understand her not helping at the moment. I see Grandma Sonnie is getting old. or appears to be so much older---taking care of Tom after his heart surgery must have taken its toll. "being weary in well-doing" faint not. <3 Always love Mother
